With the support of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (V&W), the Dutch Cyclists' Union has set up the Cycling School. The aim is to teach and promote safe cycling behaviour to all target groups which require training.

The Cycling School run by the Cyclists' Union will train instructors who will in turn give cycling proficiency courses all over the Netherlands to seniors, children and adults with no cycling experience. Welfare workers, senior organisations, schools, businesses, reception centres for asylum seekers, after-school clubs and other organisations can contact the Cycling School. The Cyclists' Union will find the most suitable cycling instructor for the relevant course.
The 3-day cycling instructor training ends with a work placement. Successful trainees receive a certificate. They are then provided with support and monitoring when giving and organising cycling courses. The Cyclists' Union also evaluates the cycling courses with the client, enabling it to guarantee the quality of the cycling instructor and the cycling courses
