'Radlstar' is the name of the contemporary campaign conducted by Munich local authorities to provide a more ‘cool&' image to cycling. Cyclists could have their picture taken by a professional photographer and the public was to choose the winner. And nice prizes were to be won in doing so.

Munich local authorities have started a huge promotional campaign focussing on cycling this spring. The aim is to spend 1 million Euros a year to get more people to cycle in Munich – which is already one of the most cycling-friendly towns in Germany. Part of the campaign was the Radlstar initiative. Sponsored by a manufacturer of cycle wear cyclists could have their picture taken with their means of transport. Overall 900 people participated. The pictures were placed on the internet and the public got to choose the nicest. The subject received a voucher for €4000.00 from the clothing manufacturer.
