Experiences with bicycle lanes in Germany and Switzerland. In Bern and Basle bicycle lanes have been integral components of road design for over twenty years. The North German town of Kiel built the first experimental bicycle lanes in the early 90s. The article contains regulations, measurements and application criteria.
