It seems there is way enough scientific proof now that either this kind of roundabout (which requires quite a lot of space...) OR the compact roundabout (28-35m outer diameter approximately, with MIXED traffic - easier to put in place in a dense urban environment) are the only safe options, and that roundabouts with a cycle-lane adjacent to the car lane are DANGEROUS.  Why would the TRL need to investigate this ?  More exchange of existing information seems to be a dire necessity.
