  • Nederland Fietst! intends to coordinate regional and local campaigns, of which quite a few exist already. In the provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht some twenty towns participate in the campaign Met belgerinkel naar de winkel. And ‘s-Hertogenbosch has prepared plans to actively promote cycling there. Wielwijk is a Dordrecht neighbourhood where attention is paid at a local level to bicycle promotion with the slogan Wielwijk Fietst. Meanwhile the province of Zeeland pulls out all the stops this year in the Year of the Bicycle with a series of activities and events inspired by the passage of the two great cycle races. The provincial scenario mentions six ‘stages’ focusing on different themes, like welfare, recreation, seashore accessibility and traffic safety. Rotterdam and Amsterdam plan activities surrounding the two cycle races as well.
